Prepping Your Epay Decking

Properly preparing Epay wood for installation helps to prevent many problems such as warping, buckling, and checking. These problems are caused when the wood absorbs or releases moisture, causing it to shrink or expand after the deck boards are screwed down.

The obvious solution is to let the wood release or absorb moisture before installing it. This process is called acclimation, and the time it takes can vary depending on your climate. 7 days is a typical recommendation.

To acclimate your epay wood, store it outside in an environment comparable to the final install site, outside where it will have plenty of air flow around it. Do not cover the decking with a tarp, and use scrap lumber to put space between the boards if you stack them.
